"Chinese Medicine works with the innate capacity of the person to heal themselves. The key factor, is that patient in front of me, has the capacity to heal themselves and right now they just don't know how. Ultimately to heal is to heal from the heart." Dr Jeffrey Yuen
One of my teachers once said, “There are two conversations that occur when I work with someone. The one with us sitting facing each other, and the one that takes place above and that’s the one that counts!” One is for the mind - the why you are here and the what’s not working perfectly. The other is a conversation of the heart and spirit, and as he’d say, “Sometimes you have to follow the heart and not the mind.”
What I’ve come to understand is that it doesn’t matter what modality I use, it’s all about energy and awareness: if we sit and talk, have a Acupuncture or Shiatsu session, or if I make a sound, place an essential oil on a point or crystal on a body part or all of them mixed in together, it’s all alchemy. Taking the ‘lead’, the dense energy, emotions, thoughts, beliefs about yourself and transforming it into ‘gold’, your unblocked essence, all of who you are and becoming more of who you are behind the façade, getting in touch with the ‘you’ that lives behind your eyes.
Patterns and healing are all about awareness and change. The pattern is embedded in behavior, the desire to heal requires that you change a pattern in order to heal. I facilitate the awareness of a pattern or issue underneath, which caused the ‘block’, allowing you to choose to take a different path with your heart in hand.
Classical Acupuncture treats the unique needs of each patient – it treats the whole person, as well as their signs and symptoms. Treatments can address present physical conditions, as well as emotional, mental, spiritual and constitutional issues. We are complex beings, and our health reflects what we have inherited and experienced, how we treat ourselves, and what we put into our bodies.
Whether the problem is in the body, mind or spirit, acupuncture can bring balance and harmony. Two patients might complain of the same symptoms - for example, migraine headaches and may receive different treatments, because of the individual imbalances that have given rise to their migraines.

Zen Shiatsu is based on the acupuncture system and is a Japanese healing art form of supporting and releasing energy for the purpose of rejuvenating and healing the body, mind and spirit. Literally translated, Shiatsu means finger pressure. Pressure is applied to acupuncture points along energy channels called meridians. It is believed that a vital source known as Qi/energy flows through meridians in the body. We use electricity in our everyday life and do not see all of the wiring behind the walls, which allows the electricity to flow. Electricity in our homes is like the energy that flows through the meridians, and the meridians are like the wiring that carries the electricity. Acupressure on the points on the meridian activates the body's inherent ability to balance and heal itself.
Essential Oils have been used throughout history for their therapeutic effects. Essential oils are naturally found in plants, seeds, bark, stems, roots and flowers to attain the oils. The extracted oil's fragrance can have a calming, grounding, stimulating and various other therapeutic effect depending on the oils used. Essential oils penetrate to the cellular level, helping to restore physical, emotional and mental balance. They are anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, and anti-spasmodic, and help support muscle, bone and nerve function.
Essential Oils assist in balancing the body and can be used for all chronic and viral conditions, as well as assisting with emotional issues, depression, stress, insomnia, PMS, menopausal signs and symptoms .
I create an aromatherapy blend tailored to each patients needs. The blend consists of 3 to 4 Essential Oils that are combined in order to assist in the process of healing, the blend is applied to acupuncture points to assist and enhance the healing process during and in between treatments.

I came to what I call 'Sound Alchemy' in the late 80's - I was doing an energy session on my patients and I heard, "You have to make a sound into her body!" I thought, "A sound? ME? You've got to be kidding!" When I was in choir I used to mouth the words, a part of me afraid of my voice. Ironic as my last name is "SINGER". I looked at my patient and said, "Hold onto your hat, I'm going to make a loud sound into your abdomen!" As I did I could feel an ancient Indian woman coming through me and and knew she wasn't a guide but an ancient aspect of myself.
We are surrounded by sound - music, cars, trains, voices expressing emotion, feeling, anger, love. Our cells vibrate, they too have frequency and emit sounds that are inaudible to our ears. Alchemy is the transformation of lead, something 'base' into 'gold' something that has been refined, released, transformed. I discovered that sound awakens inherent wisdom embedded in the body, moves through blocked energy (lead - that which holds us back) and supports and enables our body's ability to restore health and create balance through the process of refinement.
Spiritual counseling is a process by which you come back to your inner being, your spirit/soul. Some people seek counseling because they've reached a cross roads in their lives; others to transform the quality of their lives or let go of what's holding them back, or perhaps explore options.
Spirituality reflects our essence, fulfillment of our purpose, who we have evolved into being, the patterns created with time. In order to heal we need to 'change our mind' about our life, situations, beliefs, creating a paradigm shift in order to create new ways of being, thinking, knowing and ultimately healing.
Spiritual Counseling can help to unravel the past in order to better understand the present, initiating tools to create an integrated future. It can assist in the one's process of stepping back into themselves, understanding patterns and how they were created and help in negotiating choices. If appropriate, mediation, visualization or ceremony may be used as part of the session.
I am an Ordained Interfaith Minister, graduating from All Faiths Seminary International in 2003. I can officiate at weddings, funerals, memorials, baby naming ceremonies, as well as helping to create ceremonies to fit individual needs.
